"Building Healthy Kids"  since 1984

Founded in 1984 as American Academy of Gymnastics, American Kids Sports Center (AKSC) has grown into one of California's most unique and successful kids sports center.  Under the direction of owners Mike & Sheri Williams, AKSC have established an organization that sees it purpose as helping children to learn strong VALUES with which they will set worthy GOALS and for which we must train them in the SKILLS needed to achieve those goals.  Sport training is the tool we use to achieve that purpose.

But we also understand that achieving that purpose can be done in a setting that is positive, uplifting, rewarding, and even entertaining.  And the parent's comfort and enjoyment is as much our concern as is the child's.  When you first enter one of our facilities we believe you'll experience something you've never found with any of the other activities your child has been involved with.  Our lobbies are spacious and clean.  Our equipment is new and the most current available.  The gym and lobby are air conditioned and parent viewing is the best anywhere!  You have to experience it to understand how far we have gone to exceed your expectations!

American Kids Sports Center is a premier kids sports center.  Here's some facts and figures about us:

  • Two facilities located in Northwest & Southwest Bakersfield!
  • NW facility is a newly constructed 40,000 sq ft. designed specifically for kids sports and activities.  Spacious air conditioned gym for activities such as  gymnastics, dance, swim lessons, Ninja Zone, cheerleading, tumbling, trampoline, martial arts and more.  Equipped with the most advanced equipment such as in-ground trampolines and tumble tracks, spring & rod floors, high quality mats and even special equipment designed for Pre-k age kids!
  • SW facility is 30,000 sq ft of fun.  Like the NW, this facility is a fully modern gym with all the bells and whistles.  Does not have a swim program but has an excellent martial arts dojo (training room) upstairs!
  • Kern County's first of its kind indoor heated swimming pool for year-round lessons equipped with "Waveless Gutters" for the calmest water surface, duel commercial filters for the cleanest waters, and underwater music!  Both our water AND air are heated for the most comfortable environment as kids get in and out of the water. This is a non-competitive learn-to-swim program associated with the US Swim Scool Association.
  • Dance rooms designed for comfortable parent viewing without distracting the students.  By far the best parent viewing of any dance center!  American Dancers Workshop has over a 50 year history in Bakersfield.
  • A cafe (NW only) with healthy choices for kids & parents in mind. Latte anyone? How about a salad or a made-to-order sandwich?
  • A pro shop for all your kids' activity needs as well as gift ideas for those special occasions.
  • A cardio workout area for parents of enrolled students.
  • Free wireless Internet.
  • Online enrollment and account access
  • Access to our Hospitality Staff 7 days a week from morning to night during the weekdays, Saturday mornings to late afternoons, and Sunday afternoons.

But best of all is simply having so many choices for all your child(ren)'s activity needs.  Discounts for families involved in more than one recreational program.  As well as discounts for those choosing to pay through automatic payment methods.

Don't take our word for it, readers of the Kern County Family Magazine voted us the Best Kids Sports Center and the Best place for Gymnastics, Swimming, Birthday Parties, as well as a Family Favorite for Dance and Summer Camps!
